Born in 1984 and graduated from the Oil Painting Department of China Academy of Art in 2007. Lyu currently lives and works in Beijing. Since 2011, he began to create his signature series of male themed works that not only reflect his own situation but is of universal social significance. In 2013, the series was shown in his first solo exhibition in Shanghai, which quickly established him as an artist of interest. In 2015, another solo exhibition I Have Issues, Deal With It was given in 1933 Contemporary, Shanghai. In 2020, Author Gallery organizes his solo show Okey, Then in Beijing. 

 

Lyu and his works have been covered broadly in the media including Bazaar Art, Art Masters, Art Wealth, Art Newspaper, among many others. In 2013, he was selected by China’s leading art platform Artron as the “2013 Most Clicked Artist” in its 2013 Gallery Annual Statistics Big Data, with hits exceeded 160,000 within two months and took the second seat in the artist ranking. The same year, his work Finding Self received the Top 10 Award in Today Art Museum’s Focus On the Future Talent Plan. Lyu’s works were shown in varied exhibitions and fairs that include Taipei International Contemporary Art Expo, Art Beijing, Art Central Hong Kong, Shanghai Contemporary, as well as museum exhibitions in China and Germany. His works are collected in institutions and private collections across France, Spain, Germany, South Korea and China.
